OK so now you know some of the basic connections between kabbalah and Astrology. How to take it further to some practical knowledge or even practices?

I know of an interesting Kabbalistic path that analyzes your spiritual soul code and is based on the Hebrew letters and their combinations into sentences from the כתובים, the complete Jewish traditional writing including the bible and its by heart and by writing interpretations.

The astrological way through this path could be the abbility to understand Astrologically the code for one’s soul by looking bot on date of birth and Hebrew personal name, Hebrew calendar date of birth and mother’s Hebrew name.

Soon to come!

Love to you all

the Book of Job and Uranus

איוב
Having an Aquarius Moon,  today I was on the phone with an Aquarius sun soul sister who’s experiencing Job-like “symptoms” in her life right now. we were discussing life and kids and astrology while all of a sudden it hit me: the book of Job is a typical Uranus story.  so I mentioned it to her and told her (yet again) my old Uranus joke:
Imagine a man walking down the street while a brick falls on his head.
she laughed, of course. So did I. Even though it is not funny, we both appreciate an Uranian sense of humor. But then she said:
This is my life at the moment.
And than it hit me.
The Book of Job is an Uranian story.

What does the book of Job say

The book of Job tells the story of a man who gets more losses than a man can suffer. And each time he thinks he can not suffer anymore, another disaster comes upon him.  He losses everything he has.
For some reason, the common Christian adaptation of the story tends to emphasize the wounds or physical suffer poor Job had to suffer, while Judaism basic education in the state of Israel, at least, tends to question both the meaning of “blessing” קללה in the text and the presence of Satan in the story.

Accordiing to Job, just how Uranian can Uranus be?

in one word: A Lot. As much as universes can be universal. Infernal. Eternal. Uranian people tend to be forced somehow, usually by normative (or “normative”) circumstances, to see the bigger picture right from a very early age. Uranian person  is not necessarily a person born under the sign of Aquarius or has an Aquarius moon,  like my friend and me. Aquarian person is influenced directly from Uranus in a strong way shown on the Personal Natal Chart in any other way.

Baphomet, Behemoth, Capricorn and traffic to my astrology blog

A long time ago I used to do SEO for living and I maintained a blog. That was how I started to kind of like the hectic vibes of the web. I’m also an Aquarius moon with Aries rising so it’s reasonable for me, astrologically, to relate to such an intense virtual surrounding. Anyways, with this new astrology blog, I have now a good reason to go back to my old SEO habits. These, for those of you who are not maintaining a blog or a website, are:

1. Checking your stats every 5 hours – to see how much traffic you have on your site and where do they all come from, wondering where do all astrology fans hang out online.

2. Checking the inlinks to your site and try to figure why all the other links you have worked on were ignored by Google.

3. Generally, spending much more time than reasonable trying to understand Google, taken it is not a real person that you like.

4. Trying to make up astrology content, more content and some more astrology content, using your everyday experiences with astrology and doing readings atc.,  cause Content is the king.

5. Creating banners to make the content look less boring

6. and so on.

But the idea of this post was to tell you guys what people search for when they find my blog on the web and click it, cause that was a weird discovery. Turns out, that my astrology blog is mainly identified with Capricorn, according to Google. The most common terms people look up when they get to my blog are Capricorn and Saturn related terms, such as Capricorn in 7th house, Saturn in Scorpio (have no idea why, I have never written anything about Capricorn in scorpio) – but also Bephomet. Apparently there is such a thing and you can even find it in my blog. So what is Baphomet? according to the Hebrew Wikipedia it is a goat-like creature and another name for the devil, which is probably a misspelling of prophet Muhammad name. I tried to pronounce Baphomet and Muhammad and to be honest it doesn’t sound quite the same so i came up with another theory: it came from Behemoth. To those of you who are still with me now, things are getting complicated and the plot thickens… Capricorn is related to Bephomet because of a weird historical circumstances that linked between this name and a 19th century drawing of a goat-like creature, made by Eliphas Levi, a french occultist, which is a mystical character by himself.

As some of you may have noticed, the symbol in which Levi had drawn himself is the Magen David, which was confused and still is sometimes with the symbol I use as my blog logo. The name of the picture of my logo is bephomet or baphomet, and that is why people get to my blog when searching this term. The link that I came up with, between Baphomet and Behemoth, is based on similar historical circumstances that connected between Satan, the Devil and Behemoth, which is a biblical name for hippo, mentioned in Job 40. Some external books and other sources have connected between the creature mentioned in Job 40 and some capricorn-like creature related to occultism and paganic Satan worship. That is why I believe Baphomet or Bephomet and Behemoth are actually the same thing.

And what is the connection between Capricorn and all that? well, remind you that signs were created in middle ages, by marginal groups such as Islamic and Jews in Europe. Historically, it was a time of lots of pagan activity and flourish of pagan mysticism and occultism, made also by marginal, though other, groups. The result is a mix up between symbols, names and meanings. Astrology, of all occult practices, have survived and with it the symbol of the goat which is half a fish half a goat, certainly a mythical creature.

I guess drawing a chart for my blog could have solved all the mystery and show the Capricornian influences it has…  those that show themselves in hidden ways. actually Im going to check this thing right now and come back later with some updates.

A Time for Everything, by the 12 zodiac signs

ARI CAN CAP LIB LEOGEM PIS SAG SCOR VIR TAUAQU

A great book of mine, about the Hebrew astrology and kabbalah, written by Miriam Binyamini and Yonadav Kaploun, is suggesting a very nice link between the biblical idea of Time for Everything, brought on Ecclesiastes 3, and the 12 signs.

32-21256b

(book can be seen and bought here).

The text from Ecclesiastes 3, for those of you who forgot, goes like this:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

And in Hebrew:

א לַכֹּל, זְמָן; וְעֵת לְכָל-חֵפֶץ, תַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם.
ב        עֵת לָלֶדֶת,        וְעֵת לָמוּת;
ה        עֵת לְהַשְׁלִיךְ אֲבָנִים,        וְעֵת כְּנוֹס אֲבָנִים;

According to Binyamini & Kaploun, each sign’s notion of salvation is being expressed in these lines, like this (illustrations are mine):

ARI

Aries is linked to a time to kill and a time to healtwo of its most dominant abilities, the violent of killing and the leading qualities plus the physical manifestation suggested in healing.

TAU

Taurus is linked to a time for war and a time for peace – being on one hand the peacefull creature he is and on the other, having the ability to persist and fight on what’s theirs. This “time for” is also connected to time, another great asset of Taurus, and the understanding that THINGS TAKE TIME.

GEM

Gemini is being represented in a time to be silent and a time to speak, having their endless need to speak and exchange information. In this context, the writers mention the idea of two different redeemers – messiah Ben Yossef and messiah Ben David, as the duality of the Gemini sign.

CAN

Cancer, with their strong emotions, is linked to a time to weep and a time to laugh, while exemplifying  a personal and emotional perspective of the salvation and the time being until it arrives.

LEO

Leo is represented in a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing – because of their warm heart, their embracing of the outer world with authority and guidance and their sometimes lack of perspective. Leo is HEART and a hug is close to the heart.

VIR

Virgo’s time is a time to tear and a time to mend, having both sides: the stressful and skeptical side, being responsible for a time to tear; and a simple belief with knowing-what-is-the-right-thing-to-do side, being responsible for a time to mend.

LIB

Libra is a time to love and a time to hate, as simple as that but also as complicated as that: Libra hates hate and quarrel and loves love and peace. but with their balanced nature and sense of justice they know there are love times but also hate times  and that the one can’t live without the other.

SCOR

Transformative Scorpio’s sentence is off course a time to be born and a time to die. not only transformative processes of birth and death are it’s realm, but also the idea of resurrection that is expected with the coming of the messiah, is a Scorpio idea.  The mystical elimination of boundaries between the leaving and the dead, connected to salvation, is a completely scorpion idea.

From now on, things become a bit complicated with the last 4 signs:

SAG

The Sagittarius time is  a time to search and a time to give up – due to the Sagittarian constant search of truth, of new ideas and new horizons and experiences – but also due to it’s lack of attachment to matter, in a way that implies loss, giving up.

CAP

Capricorn is related to a time to tear down and a time to build because of its connections to the ground, earth and soil – not just as an earth sign but also as a cardinal sign that translates ideas into actions.  Time to tear down and time to build also manifests the relations Capricorn has to structure – they shape it and help to build it, but also to break it in order to build a better one.

AQU

Aquarius is somewhat like Capricorn, with a time to plant and a time to uproot – only this sign is doing a much more fundamental job when destroying an element: it will uproot it, cause a total destruction, and plant a new seed of the new.

PIS

and last one, Pisces, is connected to a time to mourn and a time to dance due to its extraordinary ability of mood changes, caused by its remarkable ability to absorb its surroundings. Pisces is prone both to an extreme, ecstatic, happiness and to a deep, black gooey sorrow.

Hebrew letters and the 12 astrological signs

Tree_of_Life,_Medieval

Old Kabbalah have found connections between the twelve signs and the Hebrew letters. According to Kabbalah, each letter of the Hebrew alphabet represents some qualities and connections to the 10 spheres/emanations:

כתר Keter, חכמה Chokhmah, בינה Binah, חסד Chesed, גבורה Gevurah, נצח Netzach, תפארת Tiferet, הוד Hod, יסוד Yesod, מלכות Malchut

Which can be translated as: Crown, Wisdom, Understanding, kindness/favor, Gracefulness, Eternity, Splendor, Foundation, Kingship.

for example, א, the Hebrew Aleph or first letter, is connected to כתר Keter, Crown emanation. ב, the Hebrew Bet or second letter, is connected to חכמה Chokhmah , Wisdom emanation. And so on until ת, the Hebrew Tav or the last letter.

12 signs and their letters

as seen in these pictures:

אנא nyn_roh_obho2_reference

the old Hebrews knew of 7 rulers ruling the 12 signs: Saturn, Shabtay, ruled Capricorn and Aquarius; Jupiter, Tzedek, ruled Sagittarius and Pisces; Mars, Ma’adim, ruled Aries and Scorpio; Sun, Chama, ruled Leo; Venus, Noga, ruled Taurus and Libra; Mercury, Kochav, ruled Gemini and Virgo; and finally Moon, Levana, ruled Cancer. Each of the signs and their rulers was connected to two of the Hebrew alphabet letters, like this:

Saturn, Shabtay, was represented by the letter ב, Bet; Capricorn and Aquarius, being ruled by it, got the letters בע for Capricorn and בצ for Aquarius.

Jupiter, Tzedek, was represented by the letter ג, Gimmel; Sagittarius and Pisces, being ruled by it, got the letters גס for Sagittarius and גק for Pisces.

Mars, Ma’adim, was represented by the letter ד, Dalet; Aries and Scorpio, being ruled by it, got the letters דה for Aries and דנ for Scorpio.

Sun, Chama, ruled Leo; this sign got the letters כט.

Venus, Noga, was represented by the letter פ, Peh; Taurus and Libra, being ruled by it, got the letters פו for Taurus and פל for Libra.

Mercury, Kochav, was represented by the letter ר, Reish; Gemini and Virgo, being ruled by it, got the letters רז for Gemini and רי for Virgo.

Moon, Levana, ruled Cancer; this sign got the letters תח.

the only combinations of letters with a meaning in Hebrew is the Gemini combination: רז means secret.

meaning of the different emanations the letters belong to

Here you can find the Hebrew letters and their meaning according to Kabbalah and the different spheres/emanations they belong to (in Hebrew). warning: it is not only in Hebrew, it is also very complicated because while some of the letters are connected to 1 emanation, some are related to 2 and more. Also the references to the elements that are known in modern western Astrology: water, fire, earth and air – are different in this old eastern approach to Astrology, in a way you end up with Aquarius being a partly earth sign.

Strengthening / Empowering a sign affect by wearing the letters

One kabalic way of making a sign more dominant and empowering its affect on you is wearing the letters of the sign in a talisman held on the neck. According to the belief, in order for this to really work the letters should be written by a Mekubal, a healer, an expert in Torah and a well-taught person, sometimes a Rabi. The Mekubal makes the talisman with the letters of the chosen sign and the letters radiate the energy of the sign.

According to the belief, it is not only useless but also dangerous to write letters by yourself without consulting a Mekubal.

The energies of the different signs, radiated from the letters in the talisman, help to balance an unbalanced chart or other unbalanced energy.
